The Bellingen showground is located across the Bellinger River from the main town. This is a highly flood prone town in a high rainfall area and it is not uncommon for the bridge to go under, cutting the town in two.
Bellingen is a pleasant town on the Waterfall Way which runs from the Pacific Highway to Armidale via Dorrigo and Ebor. The town had a reputation as a hippy hangout in the 1960s and 1970s. A great deal of attention by the boys in blue, was focussed on various gardening activities.

The town of Bellingen has a relaxed atmosphere, with coffee spots and nick-knack shops lining the streets. The bakery in Church Street is a favourite haunt of the Camels. Many a plan for adventure afar has been hatched on the kerbside tables here, aided by a hot chocolate or a coffee and something yummy.

Another typical showground with basic facilities, large grassy camping area with power and water connections, easy walk to lovely town. Friendly caretaker who drops by each evening to collect $25 fee (Dec '14). Good base to sightsee area.
