Driving Directions

51km north of Leeman, 37km south of Dongara on the eastern side of Indian Ocean Drive. Leave the highway and drive for 100m on a gravel road over the low scrubby dunes and you will find the Cliff Head North Rest Area, right on the beach.

There are two access roads to Cliff Head, both very good gravel/limestone roads.

Best to take the most southern road to get easier access to the individual camping bays and to the open area for large rigs.

Tracks are very sandy in places, not suitable if you don't have a 4WD.

Cliff Head North Rest Area is very large and suitable for Big Rigs. There are clean toilets on the beachfront. You may encounter large amounts of seaweed here.
To find the best spot for camping, after leaving the highway travel west only 100m then turn left just after the toilets. Travel a further 500m to large open area with some shade. There is room for at least a dozen vans.

Excellent spot with some wonderful sunsets.

The jetty does not go out over the water any more. I suspect that the sand has built up under it and the end of the jetty is now above the high water mark.
