Cooktown Rest Area is no longer available for camping.
Situated behind the main street of Cooktown and in close walking distance to shops, bakery, restaurants, hotels, art & craft. You can also walk to Cooktown Wharf, the Botanical Gardens & the must-see James Cook Museum.

Cooktown Creative Arts Assoc. is situated in the old Railway Building in the main Street, right in front of this rest area. All items handmade by Local Artists.

It is only a short drive to Grassy Hill which overlooks the town and Great Barrier Reef.
