Cranky Rock Recreation Reserve Camping Area is beautiful, very quiet, with a great swimming area. There is plenty of wildlife such as emus, cockatoos, other birds and more.
Your hosts, Ray and Tania Powell are friendly people who will help make your stay enjoyable.

Facilities include: Covered picnic tables, fireplaces – caretaker supplies wood. Flushing toilets, open air cold showers, rubbish bins and a children's playground. Pets are OK – must be kept under control.

Suitable for all sized caravans. A camping fee applies which is to be paid to the caretaker at the kiosk.

One of those places you can easily miss, but worth a visit. A place where total relaxation can be enjoyed among the eucalyptus and pine trees. Take a walk across the suspension bridge and discover the interesting rocky outcrops.

There is a brand new sealed road leading off the Gwydir Hwy which takes you straight to the park. It is well signposted off the highway. The park has been cleaned up a lot. Hot showers are now available and the BBQ is working. New caretakers are doing a grand job. Pensioner discounts are available.

We drove into this park over a road that hasn't seen a grader since Capt Cook, found and knocked on an unattended caretakers residence, the 'out of order' and unclean bbq and the few power boxes where presumably we were to set up camp if we were able to find flatness, we drove off, unimpressed.
