Donald Apex Park Rest Area is a large, peaceful day rest area on an island, connected to town by a road bridge. The island is a refuge for migrating birds and has walking tracks through the mallee scrub.
The island is formed where the Richardson River splits into two streams. Canoeing and birdwatching can also be enjoyed here.

There are toilets, BBQs and picnic tables and a children's play facility.
