Driving Directions

Proceed to waypoint, 3km west of Wilmington or 40km southeast of Port Augusta on Main North Road. At waypoint turn south onto dirt road and proceed for 7km to lookout.

Hancocks Lookout provides free camping in a scenic area overlooking Spencer Gulf.
The camping area is relatively flat, with plenty of shade. The views at night time looking over the Spencer Gulf are excellent. There in no time limit here.

The lookout is suitable for all sizes of rigs including motorhomes and 2WD, but be careful of washouts and creek crossings on the dirt road in and overhanging branches. The dirt road is in reasonable condition, but probably not suitable in wet weather.

Please stay on the public road as you travel through private farm land.
