Driving Directions

Turn off west Stuart Highway 131km south of Alice Springs at waypoint, onto Ernest Giles road. Proceed for 11km then turn north for 5km. 16km of rough dirt road. Unsuitable for caravans.

Almost 5,000 years ago, the Henbury Meteor, weighing several tonnes and travelling at 40,000 kilometres per hour, disintegrated in the atmosphere. The fragments formed twelve craters.
