Horseshoe Bend Merbein Camping Area is a free campground on the bank of the Murray, just north of Merbein, behind the old racecourse. Bush camping in quiet location, right on the riverbank.
There are a selection of sites here with
Several access tracks leading from the gravel access road down to the river. Much of the ground her has a slope towards the river, so levelling blocks may be required. There are some spots that are almost level. The best location is at the northern end of this stretch of the river, where the ground is level and there is more room.

There are some bins provided, however it is preferred that rubbish is taken out on departure.

This is a magnificent location, particularly if you like to cast a line for a fish dinner.
