Driving Directions

18km east of Crows Nest at the end of Perseverance Dam Road.

Once you go through the gate at the waypoint, the going gets rather steep. Good practice dictates that if you are towing a caravan or your vehicle is heavy, it is safest to select a low gear to save overheating the brakes. If you do need to brake as well, do so intermittently to allow cooling of the brakes. Hot brakes fade just when you need them most.

Lake Cressbrook Camping Area has absolute waterfront camping, with open grassy areas and tall shady trees. There are hot showers, a camp kitchen, BBQs and a fish cleaning facility.
Yellow Belly, Silver perch, Bass, Mary River Cod and Saratoga are all in abundance in the lake. There is a boat ramp at the day use area, a short drive around the lake.

There is an area set aside for caravans and motorhomes, but the roads within the campground were not really designed with caravans in mind and are quite narrow. The are OK for a van up to about 22' but very large rigs, particularly the big 5th wheelers would be in trouble if they tried to negotiate the tight turns and narrow tracks.

The is a beautiful peaceful campground but there is not 3G signal here. Some may consider this a positive.
