The Macsland Rest Area is a large flat rest area just off the Landsborough Highway with little shade. A backdrop of scraggly brigalow scrub and a few spindly box saplings is all that you can find here.
This is both a light and heavy vehicle rest area, used by road trains for overnight stops.

Bush camping is available between the rail line and the amenities. Access to the bush area behind the rest area is by two dirt tracks one either end of amenities. There is enough room for big rigs and plenty of turning area for caravans. If unsure walk in first especially after heavy rain.

Scrub trees to about 4m provide some shade.

A nice spot for a rest. There is a large amount of space here for camping away from the trucks pulling in and out, with little alcoves to pull into to have a bit of privacy in some of shade.

Toilets are reasonably clean for the amount of use they get. The ground is very dusty and could be messy after rain.

Cook on a contained fire then sit and relax watching the stars

The scrub land is not part of the rest area but privately owned. At present the owners permit camping on it.
