Mungabareena Reserve is a day rest area that occupies the entire area bounded by the Murray River as it snakes around a bend. The layout is a beautifully landscaped circular drive of bitumen where you can stop for a picnic or cast a line into the river.
Mungabareena Reserve is an important cultural reserve that has significance to many Aboriginal tribes in this region. It is where Aboriginal peoples from different tribes meet to trade before continuing towards Mount Bogong to hunt for Bogong moths. The Ngan Girra Festival is held here every November.
