Myall Creek Rest Area is a free overnight rest area with excellent grassy shaded spots to camp under the trees. There is a small turning area at the end of the gravel road off the highway. If you have a large rig it would pay to walk in first.
Myall Creek was the scene of a massacre in 1838 when a group of aboriginals were murdered by europeans. Seven of the europeans were hanged for murder, the only instance where europeans were executed for murdering aboriginals in those troubled times.
