Driving Directions

Proceed to waypoint on Marble Bar Road 11km from Great Northern Highway and Marble Bar Road junction. Turn SE at waypoint at sign along dirt track to picnic area.

The Ophthalmia Dam is a spectacular oasis, formed when a branch of the Fortescue River was dammed. It stands in stark contrast to the otherwise arid landscape of the Newman outback.
The Dam is a popular swimming and recreation area where you can enjoy picnic and a refreshing swim, particularly in the very hot northern summer. Witness the stunning sunsets when the day is done.
