Phil Schaffert Bridge Rest Area was a recognised BBQ camping area that previously had toilets and bins. The main area is to the east of the old road.
There is a further large area which links to this site and with access from the intersection of the Burke Development Road and the Kurumba Road.

There are crocs in Walkers Creek, so presumably there are fish as well.

The bridge was named after the late Phil Schaffert who served on the Carpentaria Shire Council for more than 20 years.
