Driving Directions

Travel 28km spouth of Jabiru on Kakadu Highway. Turn east for 6km to Murialla Park. Bitumen Road well signposted. Turn south on dirt road for 6km.

Sandy Billabong is 6 kilometers beyond Muirella Park on a dry season 4X4 track.
There are two parts to this locality. A small bush campground is situated on the edge of a shallow-water billabong heavily used by many types of water birds. A little further on, the track ends at the edge of the deep sandy banks of Sandy Billabong.

The cool, clear water is home to many large saltwater crocodiles. A walk to the right along the side of this billabong provides good bird watching opportunities as well as views across this large water hole.
