Sir William Bridges Rest Area, previously knows as Pilliga No. 2 Rest Area provides picnic tables and some shade. There are no toilets here. Level drive through area adjacent to the Newell Highway which can be accessed from either direction.
The rest area was renamed on 24th October 2016 in honour of the late Major General Sir William Bridges by Northern NSW Parliamentary Secretary Adam Marshall to commemorate a former roads inspector and Gallipoli hero. A plaque was unveiled to mark the occasion.

The Scottish-born Major-General Bridges served with the Australian Imperial Force but is also remembered as the founder of Duntroon Military College. He died at Gallipoli on May 18 1915. His body was repatriated to Australia and is buried in the grounds of Duntroon Military College.
