Skinners Flat Reservoir Picnic Area is a popular recreation area for locals and visitors alike. There is plenty of room to camp around the lake or in the bush by the road.
The reservoir was once the water supply for the town of Wedderburn, however since the pipeline from the Grampions was installed, it is no longer used for this purpose. There is still water in the lake, but not as much as there was previously.

Wedderburn is a historic gold mining town, popular with fossickers and is part of the Golden Triangle of Victoria.
