Driving Directions

Proceed to waypoint on Cabbage Tree Road, via 14km of rough dirt road from junction of Markwell Road. At waypoint turn NW onto Strke-A-Light Road and continue for approx 4km to open camping area. Try at different route at your peril.

Many of the roads here are blocked by washouts, fallen trees and damaged bridges. It is strongly recommended that you carry a GPS or you may not find your way out again.

Unsuitable for caravans and large rigs. You might get away with 2WD in dry weather if you know the road, but 4WD recommended at any time if possible.

When the coastal summer heat becomes too oppressive, there is only one thing to do. Head for the hills.
This is the place where the boys hang out. Beer, bikes and bulldust is the order of the day. Up in the forest via the National Park is a cool clearing where you can camp and tell yarns and explore the bush. The cool mountain streams beckon in the heat of the day and chances are there will be no one else around for miles.

The roads are largely neglected so don't bring your kiddie cart city car up here. This is for serious off-road vehicles only. Bring your ATV or trail bike and have some fun.
