Surrey Ridge Picnic & Camping Area is located in a section of the Cobboboonee State Forest that still has tall mature trees providing a good canopy and habitat for birdlife and animals. There are picnic tables, fireplaces and a longdrop toilet.
The Cobboboonee State Forest was heavily logged for a period of more than half a century. In some places clear felling was practiced, leading to a loss of habitat for wildlife, particularly those species dependent on the large hollow trees which have mostly been removed.

Protects threatened species in this forest include the Powerful Owl, Spot-tailed Quoll, Long-nosed Potoroo, Common Bent-wing Bat (southern sub-species), Masked Owl, Swamp Antechinus and the Swamp Skink.

The picnic area is among some beautiful tall trees and provides a place for nature lovers and bird watchers to spend some time away from humanity.
