An easy drive from Sydney, it is the home of many who have escaped the crowded metropolitan lifestyle but who still work in the City. Excellent rail services provide easy and reliable access for commuters to both Sydney and Newcastle.

It is also the home of a growing retirement population as well as a welcoming destination for holidaymakers.

This diversity of residents and visitors is complemented by the diversity of choice in lifestyle, from beachside hut to highrise town apartment. But one thing that all here have in common is the relaxed lifestyle and easy access to the vast and inviting waterways.

The golden sands of the surf beaches are guarded by numerous surf lifesaving clubs where holidaymakers swarm to get their share of sand, surf and sunshine. As the region is only an hour from most of Sydney, it is also a favourite haunt of day trippers on the weekends.

The many inland channels and lakes are perfect for fishers in their small boats or simply casting from the shore. Numerous boat ramps provide easy access and parking for those who enjoy a day out on the water.

The Central Coast also has its hinterland with the rugged mountainous area west of the coast around Mangrove Mountain and down to the Hawkesbury River.
