Each September Toowoomba, which is know as the Garden City, hosts the annual flower festival. Floats make their way along the route through the centre of the city while thousands of onlookers revel in the party atmosphere.
The Darling Downs has a rich history, having been settled in 1840 by unauthorised selectors. There was little that the colonial government could do to stop these early settlers who quickly established the local wool industry. In 1891 a shearer's strike started at Jondaryan. Today the Jondaryan Woolshed is a living museum that keeps alive the early history of the colonial and early Federation years.
