Goulburn Valley Showgrounds

The Goulburn Valley in Victoria, is a large, fertile region surrounding the Goulburn River, which flows into the Murray River east of Echuca. From the Seymour in the south to the Murray in the north, the region has its centre in the city of Shepparton. Here, fruit canning and preserving of the region's produce is the major industry, employing thousands of factory workers. The SPC Ardmona cannery is one of the world's largest fruit processing factories.
The Goulburn Valley is one of Australia's most productive and intensively farmed areas and is predominantly irrigated. Thousands of hectares of level fertile soil have made possible the establishment of channel irrigation which supports orchards of stone fruit, apples and pears.

Abundant water, gentle weather and sandy soils have enabled the Goulburn Valley to consistently produce excellent wine since the 1860s.

The region is home to award-winning wineries and our fertile soils grow some of the best produce in the world. Everything from historic country pubs and picturesque vineyard settings to classy restaurants and romantic hideaways can be found in this rich part of country Victoria.
