Tarpeena Rest Area is a day rest are beside the Tarpeena Memorial Hall. You'll have to park your rig on the grassy verge, as there is insufficient room in the parking area for anything but cars.

Further south is the Padthaway region which is well known for its excellent white varieties. Wrattonbully, Penola and Mount Benson are also wine producing areas, each with their unique characteristics.
Tourism has become one of the most important sectors for the Limestone Coast. It's clean environment, interesting caves and rock formations and the local produce which includes beef, dairy, stone fruit, honey as well as the previously mentioned wines. Farmers markets are attracting locals and visitors alike in offering the freshest produce direct from the suppliers and of course, not forgetting the seafood.
If you like to be near the water, then Beachport is surrounded on all sides with Lake George to the north and the Southern Ocean to the south east and west. Lake George is a great place for birdwatchers as it is a stopover for many migratory birds.
The Festival by the Sea is held in February and there are farmers' markets held in the town on a regular basis.
