The Gums Campground

The Gums Campground is at the end of a narrow winding road within the Little Dip Conservation Park. It is suitable for tent and camper trailer camping with some nice shady spots.

The wine growing region of Coonawarra is famous for its cabernet sauvignon which grows in the rich red soil of this small but unique region. Further south is the Padthaway region which is well known for its excellent white varieties. Wrattonbully, Penola and Mount Benson are also wine producing areas, each with their unique characteristics.
Tourism has become one of the most important sectors for the Limestone Coast. It's clean environment, interesting caves and rock formations and the local produce which includes beef, dairy, stone fruit, honey as well as the previously mentioned wines. Farmers markets are attracting locals and visitors alike in offering the freshest produce direct from the suppliers and of course, not forgetting the seafood.
If you like to be near the water, then Beachport is surrounded on all sides with Lake George to the north and the Southern Ocean to the south east and west. Lake George is a great place for birdwatchers as it is a stopover for many migratory birds.
The Festival by the Sea is held in February and there are farmers' markets held in the town on a regular basis.
