Mid North Coast of NSW Free Camping

The Mid North Coast of NSW stretches from Myall Lake in the south to Woolgoolga in the north and is centred around Port Macquarie. This coastal stretch of 300km is a highly livable playground, rich in agriculture, well watered by many large rivers and bounded by the mountains in the west and beautiful sandy beaches along the Pacific Ocean in the east. Life doesn't get much better than in this region.

The subtropical climate is ideal for fruit growing, cattle raising and market gardens. Timber and tourism are important industries here too.
The major centres of Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Taree provide all of life's essentials, so locals really don't need to visit the big smoke for their day to day needs.
Caravan parks abound in this region. They are generally at the upper end of the price scale and there are few RV friendly free camps. Councils in the region seem to be averse to the needs of RV travellers and trying to find a parking spot in Coffs Harbour when towing a caravan, is an exercise in futility. This results in a great deal of lost business for the shops, as travellers, particularly full time nomads, quickly learn to spend their money elsewhere.
