Tourism is the main industry here and there is plenty for visitors to see. While Ayers Rock (Uluru) and the Devils Marbles (Kata Tjuta) are the iconic destinations familiar to all, there are many other fascinating places to visit, each with its own unique features, legends and history.
There is Kings Canyon, where you can enjoy the comfort of a world class resort, or you can trek the Larapinta Trail along the West MacDonnell Ranges. Discover the unique Australian flora and fauna of this area and camp beneath the star filled desert sky.
But there is more to the Red Centre than the well trodden tourist routes. The Outback is vast and alluring. Be sure to obtain local information when setting out on an adventure. Take extra fresh water and fuel, as you never know what conditions may be encountered.
If you are venturing off the beaten track it is worth considering taking an EPIRB emergency beacon. This is a device which, when activated sends an emergency signal containing your exact location, so that a search can be conducted without having to waste any time looking where you are not located. It is for emergency use only.
