A place for holidays and a place to live that distinctive Queensland lifestyle. Golden beaches, lush rainforest and cool hinterland mountains provide something for everyone.

The Sunshine Coast has long been a rich farming area, growing pineapples, bananas, strawberries, ginger, passionfruit, citrus and other delicious produce including fresh vegetables.

It was once a sugar producing area but the sugar mill in Nambour had come to the end of its useful life and was shut down in 2003. The canefields of yesterday have given way to new housing developments.

Visitors to the Sunshine Coast have plenty to choose from to keep them occupied and entertained. There are many tourist attractions from the sea to the mountains. Places such as the Big Pineapple where regular markets are held every Saturday. The alternative craft villages of Montville, Maleny and Mapleton can fill a very pleasant day in the rarefied cool mountain air of the hinterland.

But it is also about the surf beaches which stretch from Caloundra to Noosa. Magnificent, golden sand, whales and dolphins. Fishing surfing or just sunbaking. The Sunshine Coast has it all.
